In order to fully realize the magic that is Costa Rica, one  must completely immerse themselves to experience transformational energy and beauty. The Osa Peninsula provides the tranquillity and remote energy of the end of the earth, but is still relatively convenient to reach from the US. Sometimes the most powerful way to create lasting changes in one’s everyday life is to fully step out of routine and immerse oneself in a healing environment. The shift of perspective allows the building of new habits and a deepening into presence where one can access one’s true nature. In this experience, Steph and Polina will deepen your understanding of many components of a balanced yoga practice, including postures, breathing, chanting, meditation, and working with the elements and nature in order to give you tools to return home and practice within your unique life situation. Surround yourself with pristine beaches and surf breaks, the liveliness and magic of the rainforest, and a group of like-minded individuals who will support you as you explore new parts of yourself and the world.

The Osa Peninsula, located on the Southern Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, is a world premier rainforest destination dubbed one of the most biologically diverse places on earth by National Geographic. Encanta La Vida Jungle Lodge is located in the midst of the jungle an easy five minute stroll from the beach. The whole place is teeming with prana, and the nurturing energy inspires feelings of vibrancy and renewal. You are essentially traveling to the end of the earth, where you can truly let go of your day-to-day habits and create a new relationship with yourself that will uphold when you return home.

Encanta La Vida is uniquely designed to offer an off-the-beaten-path jungle immersion, while including the comforts and luxuries of a resort. The lodge has a pool with a full bar including tropical mixers and fruit smoothies, three course dinners with freshly baked bread, and a spa offering massages and seasonal scrubs.

The nearby beaches include breaks for every level of surfer, and the warm water is idyllic for swimming. Plan to be fully encompassed in the sounds and rhythms of the rainforest; the Osa Peninsula is home to four types of monkeys, scarlet macaws, toucans, and many other exotic wildlife. The open-air yoga deck provides an impeccable view of the turquoise ocean, as well as a symphony of jungle sounds including rolling ocean waves, monkeys traversing through trees, and birds chattering.

During your free time, you can make your way to a beach to relax, swim, or surf; take a stroll through the jungle to a beautiful waterfall and swimming hole; take an excursion to zip-line or climb a Matapalo tree; and prepare for salsa dancing on Friday at the cantina down the road!

Steph and Polina are both knowledgeable 500-hour RYT teachers with a deep, experiential knowledge of ancient yoga teachings. Their specialties include a powerful combination of Ashtanga-based Vinyasa flow to connect you to your strength and breath, Kundalini to increase your energy and inner awareness, and practices of meditation, mantra, and pranayama (breath practices). You will practice Radiant Body Yoga, which is a powerful methodology that combines the subtle aspects of yoga with the physical in such a way that it allows for profound healing, evolution, and transformation. This retreat doesn’t just offer standard classes, it provides an experience of yourself that allows for nervous system shifts in such a way that you can maintain more aligned and positive habits when you return home.

Every morning will begin with a meditation and mobility focused yoga practice designed to center you and cultivate a sense of inner harmony and balance before you head out to relax and explore. In the evening, we will intuitively guide you through a practice that could involve Ashtanga/vinyasa, restore, yoga nidra, Kundalini, a workshop, or some combination.

When you take the time to strengthen your body and nervous system, and to check in with your emotions and mind in this way, you develop the strong back and open heart that you need in order to face your challenges and any darkness you may encounter throughout life. As you connect to this strong but soft space within yourself, you will find it easier to approach life with compassion and follow your intuition, even once you return home. This experience can act as a catalyst to support you on whatever ventures you are undergoing mentally, physically, or spiritually.

This retreat is for all levels of practitioners, and part of the intention is to provide you with tools and knowledge of your own unique nervous system. Whether you are looking for more focus, deepened strength, an ability to surrender, a connection to intuition, or anything else, Steph and Polina will help you create a unique practice to take with you that will support you upon your return home.

  • We like to use Google Flights, Kayak, Expedia, or CheapoAir to find affordable flights! The easiest route to Encanta la Vida is to fly into the San Jose International Airport (airport code SJO), then take a puddle hopper plane from San Jose to Puerto Jimenez. When you’ve paid your deposit, we can get you in touch with the travel expert from Encanta la Vida and she can help you coordinate your puddle hopper plane and transportation from the airport to the lodge with other participants. It is also possible to take a bus or shuttle from the San Jose airport to Puerto Jimenez, just plan on about a 10 hour windy drive.

  • Plan to arrive at Encanta la Vida on the morning of April 10th so you can enjoy lunch, have a tour, and get settled. Our first session will be in the afternoon. Our final session will be the morning of April 16th so you can easily catch an afternoon flight out.
